Dak Prescott knows that some of his Dallas Cowboys teammates are set to hit free agency soon, and it’s likely he won’t see some of them again. However, there are also those who would be open to signing a new contract if the franchise offers one.
Recently, Josina Anderson of The Exhibit Concept spoke with Brandin Cooks as he approaches free agency. The veteran wide receiver discussed what his future could look like after his contract with the Cowboys expires, stating, “I’m expecting a good free agency since this is the first time that I would be a free agent in my career.” However, he also left the door open for a return, adding, “But I’m also open to returning to Dallas.”
Cooks will be one of the few wide receivers in free agency with over 10 years of NFL experience. Although he spent just two seasons in Dallas, he emphasized that he feels great physically, saying, “I am fully healthy and have nothing to hide.”
During his two years alongside Dak Prescott, Cooks appeared in 26 games, recording 84 receptions for 916 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging 11.5 yards per catch. Before arriving in Dallas, he played for the Texans, Rams, Patriots, and Saints.

Cooks on a Potential Return to Dallas
Cooks told Anderson that he has a strong relationship with Prescott and other key figures in the organization, stating, “I have a good relationship with Dak, the Jones family, and Cee Dee. It’s just one of those things where they have to focus on what they have to get done first too.” His comments suggest a return to the team is a possibility.

However, Cooks also believes the Cowboys didn’t fully maximize his skill set during his time with the team, saying, “I would love to play with the Cowboys. At the same time, they would have to use me right. I don’t think they fully used me to my strengths.”
Cowboys’ Offensive Struggles
The Cowboys’ offense had its share of difficulties last season. The team ranked 21st out of 32 in offensive line performance and averaged just 20.6 points per game. With Prescott sidelined due to injury late in the season, the Cowboys’ receiving corps struggled, recording only 23 touchdowns in 2024. Upgrading the wide receiver position remains a priority for the team.
