The Dallas Cowboys look like the most dysfunctional team in the NFL right now. The players and coaches donât get along, theyâve lost two of their quarterbacks to injury, and their defense just canât seem to get a stop.
And to make things even worst, team owner Jerry Jones fueled even more controversies when discussing Dontari Poesâs situation, as the team recently decided to cut the 30-year-old defensive tackle.
Jones was merciless when talking about Poeâs physical condition, criticized his work ethic, and hinted that there would be even more to the decision of releasing him, even though he refused to get into details.
Jerry Jones Rips Dontari Poe For Being Overweight
âWhen youâre 30 pounds overweight and youâre not doing anything about whatâs keeping you from performing well on the field, there is no reason to get into the other stuff,â Jones said, according to ESPN.
The media went on to question what did he mean with âthe other stuffâ, clearly referring to the fact that Dontari Poe was the only player on the team to kneel during the national anthem this season.
Jerry Jones Refuses To Talk About Dontari Poe Kneeling During The Anthem
âI understand your question and Iâm deliberately not going to answer it. We have a platform here but the platform on the football field has a high standard, and he [Poe] was not up to the standard. He needed to correct that and he did not. Iâm going to leave it at that,â Jones said.4
Jerry Jonesâ political stance isnât a secret to anybody and heâs never been the kind of guy whoâll shy away from a controversial conversation, but you have to wonder whether this was the time to get into this delicate subject.
