The Baltimore Ravens aim to be contenders once again this season in the NFL, and to achieve that, they are looking to strengthen their roster in the best way possible. The addition of veteran DeAndre Hopkins from the Kansas City Chiefs boosts the offense and provides Lamar Jackson with another option to execute his game to the fullest.

In a conversation with the press, the seasoned player, who previously wore the jerseys of the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans, revealed one of the main reasons why he ultimately decided to join the team led by John Harbaugh.

“I think Lamar being the leader of this team is part of the reason that I came here,” Hopkins said. “What he stands for and how he led this team and this organization to the playoffs in multiple years, and since he’s been here, just how he’s led any receiver group he’s had. I think that played a big part of me coming here for sure—Lamar being the quarterback.

Despite not having his best numbers last season with the Chiefs alongside Patrick Mahomes, Hopkins brings all his experience to the Ravens in an attempt to secure the coveted Super Bowl, something the franchise has been longing for quite some time.

For his part, Jackson had one of his best NFL seasons, which unfortunately wasn’t enough to earn him another MVP award: he completed 66.7% of his passes for 4,172 yards, 41 touchdowns, and four interceptions. He also rushed 139 times for 915 yards and four touchdowns.

When asked about this particular sequence, the former Clemson player stated that he found it unlikely for the three of them to join the same team.

“Honestly I did not think that was a possibility,” Hopkins said, via the Ravens on X. “I was like Derrick Henry is obviously never leaving Tennessee and Lamar is never leaving Baltimore, so it’s going to take me possibly going to either one of those places and obviously I went to Tennessee and Baltimore.”
