The Baltimore Ravens showcased their strength last NFL season, delivering an impressive postseason performance while building around their stars, quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry. However, head coach John Harbaugh will be without a veteran who was part of the roster.

After a strong 2024 season with a 12–5 record, the team aims to stay competitive in the AFC North and extend its divisional title streak to three straight years. To achieve that, they’ll need Jackson at his best alongside Henry.

Success in the NFL is largely achieved through effective offseason moves. In this case, the Harbaugh’s Ravens are cutting a player they had signed to a long-term contract. Not every acquisition works out, and various factors can lead to a final decision.

Veteran teammate of Jackson and Henry to leave Ravens

The teammate of Jackson and Henry set to leave the Ravens is veteran safety Marcus Williams, who will depart after three seasons, ending his five-year, $70 million contract. The 28-year-old had joined Baltimore from the New Orleans Saints.

Williams’ departure is due to a combination of injuries and inconsistency on the field, going from a starter to being inactive by the end of the 2024 season. Despite his struggles with the Ravens, his experience in the league could make him an appealing option for teams looking to help him revive his career.

Other Ravens’ roster moves

During the offseason, the Ravens made significant moves to strengthen their roster. One of the most notable acquisitions was wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who joined from the Kansas City Chiefs and signed a one-year, $5 million contract. Additionally, the team bolstered its linebacker unit and special teams by adding Jake Hummel, a former Los Angeles Rams player, on a one-year deal.
