The New York Giants are preparing strongly for the upcoming NFL season, and among the most important moves so far, the arrivals of both Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston to the roster under head coach Brian Daboll have been confirmed.
Despite these two experienced additions, the coach doesn’t want to leave anything to chance for what’s to come. He hinted to the press that the possibility of selecting another quarterback in the upcoming draft is a real option.
“Yeah, I think anything is on the table. We are still going through the process,” Daboll told NFL Network’s Judy Battista on Sunday. “There are still a few weeks out (until the draft), but we are doing a lot of work on not just the quarterbacks but all the players. So, we will do what we think is best for the football team, but I wouldn’t rule anything out.”
The possibility of selecting another quarterback in the upcoming draft will depend solely on whether the player’s talent is truly considered crucial for the development of the game. For now, Brian Daboll is very comfortable with the arrivals of both Wilson and Winston.

Head coach Brian Daboll of the New York Giants looks on during the fourth quarter at MetLife Stadium on November 03, 2024 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
“We have done a lot of work on all these quarterbacks — free-agent quarterbacks, college quarterbacks,” Daboll said. “I’m happy to have Russ and Jameis in the quarterback room. I look forward to working with them. They have quite a bit of experience in the league. I look forward to getting them in the building on April 21 and digging into the playbook and all the things you need to do with a quarterback.”

Wilson reflected on his thoughts about the upcoming draft
Although Russell Wilson is a seasoned veteran in the NFL, his experience and talent can bring a lot to a team, especially to a quarterback who is just starting out in the league after making the jump from College Football.
That’s why, in recent statements to the press, the former Steelers and Seahawks player made something clear to Brian Daboll and the Giants regarding drafting a QB in 2025.
“The great part about professional sports is constant change constant movement,” Wilson said via Pro Football Talk. “If we draft a quarterback, we’ll make sure he does everything he can to be ready to go and be prepared with his mentality. But for me I’m focused on winning, what I can do as a quarterback of the New York Giants to help us win and do everything we can to lead.
“I’m excited. I’ve been gifted with so much in this game in terms of experiences and things I’ve gone through, all the great moments, some tough ones along the way. Also being inside the white lines, that is my most favorite place to be. I’m excited to do that and to rock the New York Giants jersey.”
Joe Schoen’s perspective on what’s to come
In line with Daboll’s words about not ruling out the arrival of any player in the upcoming draft, Giants‘ GM Joe Schoen made it clear that the door is open for everyone, and that every step will be analyzed to build the most competitive roster possible.
“Since I’ve been here, we’ve tried to set it up on draft day (so) that we could go play a game (that day). I feel like we’re there now. That way you don’t get backed into a corner or force yourself to do anything,” Schoen said. “… Now we’re in a situation where you go through the roster and say, ‘OK, throughout the draft, where can we still upgrade?’
“We’re not done. We still want to upgrade. We have five picks in the top 105. We could go any position, so we’re not ruling any position out,” Schoen finally concluded.
