The upcoming NFL season presents a great opportunity for several teams to redeem themselves after underwhelming performances in previous years. The New York Jets are one of those teams, and under the guidance of Aaron Glenn, they’ll look to emerge as one of the league’s biggest surprises.

The road ahead won’t be easy, as the AFC East is shaping up to be one of the most competitive divisions in the league. Even so, there’s strong belief in the Big Apple that the Jets can hold their own and rise to the challenge posed by division rivals like the Bills, Dolphins, and Patriots.

Justin Fields has been chosen to replace Aaron Rodgers at the quarterback position, and many believe the former Steeler and Bear has what it takes to finally showcase his full potential. The good news for him is that a new and unexpected addition joined the team in the past few hours, offering a timely boost.

The Jets’ roster continues to take shape ahead of the upcoming season, and the latest reports point to the arrival of an unexpected addition to Aaron Glenn’s squad.

According to NFL.com, kicker Harrison Mevis — most recently with the UFL — has officially agreed to join New York and will be available to the coaching staff in the near future. He will compete for the starting job alongside Caden Davis, a rookie out of Ole Miss.

Mevis’ arrival to the roster means that another player at his position will no longer be under Aaron Glenn’s command by Week 1 in New York.

The latest report confirms the franchise’s decision to move on from kicker Anders Carlson, who will now have to seek a new opportunity elsewhere. Carlson went 8-for-10 on field goals and 9-for-11 on extra points over five games in 2024.
