Led by Dak Prescott, the Dallas Cowboys are aiming to return to the spotlight in the upcoming NFL season.

It’s been several years since the Dallas Cowboys were true contenders—going toe-to-toe with top rivals and making deep playoff runs. That’s why this year, Dak Prescott and his teammates believe they can finally change the narrative and emerge as legitimate title contenders in the NFL.

Tyler Smith has been one of the key protectors—not just for Prescott, but for any quarterback tasked with stepping onto the field. The talented offensive guard is among the many Cowboys who believe this could be the year they hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

In a recent media session, the former Tulsa standout made it clear that the team has just one goal this season: reaching the Super Bowl. And according to him, they have every reason to believe they can get there.

“Super Bowl champions. That’s always the expectation,” he said via Todd Archer of ESPN.com when asked about Cowboys’ goals next season. He also added: “I think it’s a realistic goal, yeah.”

Plenty of reasons to believe

Reaching a Super Bowl in the NFL is no easy feat. In fact, only two of the league’s 32 teams get the chance to play for that dream each year—and just one ends up claiming the crown.

A new era is underway at the Cowboys’ facilities—not just because of the fresh faces on the roster and coaching staff, but also because of the renewed sense of belief within the team that this could be the year they make a serious run.

“I think we built a great core on offense; the addition of [receiver] George [Pickens] and all the other key pieces,” Smith said. “I think drafting [guard Tyler] Booker [in the first round], he’s going to be a hell of a guy just to bolster the front line. And we have many guys across the board, but those are some of the guys who are the key pieces on what we do this year.”

Making a strong stand in the NFC East

Under the guidance of new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, the Cowboys are looking to make noise starting in Week 1 and position themselves among the title contenders. Sharing a division with the reigning champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, is a factor that can’t be overlooked at this stage.

Not only that, but the Commanders will look to build on last season’s success with Jayden Daniels at the helm, while the Giants also aim to make their mark, led by the seasoned QB Russell Wilson.
