Mike Macdonald’s career and success in the NFL

Mike Macdonald began his coaching career in 2008 at Cedar Shoals High School in Georgia, where he served as a linebackers and running backs coach. In 2010, he joined the University of Georgia as a graduate assistant.

Over the following years, he held various roles in both college and professional football, including internships and positions of greater responsibility. In 2014, he made the leap to the NFL as a coaching intern with the Baltimore Ravens.

Throughout seven seasons with the team, he rose to key positions: defensive backs coach in 2017, linebackers coach from 2018 to 2020, and defensive coordinator in 2022 and 2023.
