Aaron Rodgers was a real possibility for the Los Angeles Rams in case Matthew Stafford left the team. During an interview with Good Morning Football, head coach Sean McVay confirmed that this was an alternative plan.
âOur first priority, which was consistently communicated, was: âHey, letâs work something out with Matthew.â We were very fortunate that it worked out that way. If that wasnât able to occur, then that was definitely a conversation (Aaron Rodgers) and a possibility for us.â
That would have caused a major shakeup in the NFL, as Rodgers would have had the opportunity to play with a Super Bowl contender led by an explosive offense featuring names like Puka Nacua and his former teammate, Davante Adams.
What team is Aaron Rodgers signed with?
Aaron Rodgers has signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but for several weeks, the Rams were considered a strong option in case Matthew Stafford didnât extend his deal with Los Angeles.
Now, in a very interesting revelation, Sean McVay has publicly admitted that Rodgers was on their radar, and that was probably one of the reasons why Aaron took longer to make his final decision.

âI have a ton of respect for the body of work and Iâve gotten to know Aaron and really enjoy the conversations and just the approach. The way that he thinks about the game and life. So, that was a possibility, but our first priority was always to be able to get Matthew back. Iâm really glad that worked out. I know that thereâs a lot of people in Pittsburgh that are really excited that thatâs finally come to fruition. Iâm a big fan of his.â
