Aaron Rodgers could take weeks or months to decide which team he will join next, according to the latest report from Adam Schefter. Although the Minnesota Vikings are not considering him at the moment, the star quarterback still doesn’t want to close that door, thinking about what could happen during training camp or preseason with J.J. McCarthy.

“The Steelers would like an answer. The Giants would like an answer. But there’s nothing pushing Aaron Rodgers right now to give them that answer. It’s not like anybody’s got a game this week. It’s not like anybody’s got a game next month. Everybody is waiting. And I think Aaron Rodgers privately has been, and maybe even continues to be waiting for the Minnesota Vikings, who were not willing to move in that direction right now because they’re committed to J.J. McCarthy.”

Rodgers seems convinced that the Vikings give him the best chance to win the Super Bowl, so he is not yet willing to accept another offer from the Pittsburgh Steelers or the New York Giants.

Is Aaron Rodgers a free agent right now?

Yes. That is the key factor why Aaron Rodgers is in no rush. In fact, Schefter mentioned in his report that another factor delaying the quarterback’s decision is the draft, as the veteran will wait to see where several rookies land in order to assess each potential team’s needs.

Aaron Rodgers wants to make that one more factor in his decision and wants to wait until he sees where Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders go. He can do that. So, while Aaron waits for the idea that maybe one day the Vikings could open up, the Pittsburgh Steelers would like an answer and the Giants would like an answer. Again, nobody knows exactly what Aaron Rodgers is going to do. Now, at some point in time, the Steelers, the Giants or Russell Wilson may decide that they’re ready to move on no matter what his decision is, but nobody has gotten to that point just yet.”
