NFL News: Aaron Rodgers reportedly approves of Steelers parting ways with star player

As the Steelers shake up their roster, one surprising voice might have emerged in support of the move, Aaron Rodgers. The veteran quarterback reportedly has no issue with Pittsburgh moving on from George Pickens, a decision that could pave the way for a reunion with one of his trusted former targets.

Aaron Rodgers had no problem at all with the Pittsburgh Steelers sending George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. According to a report by Ray Fittipaldo, that would also open the door for a familiar face to arrive and help the veteran quarterback.

“Aaron Rodgers likes detail with his wide receivers. He likes his receivers to run patterns a certain way. I think he’s probably ok with it (Pickens’ trade). Don’t be surprised if the Steelers try to go get somebody who has a history with Aaron Rodgers. I wouldn’t expect that before Aaron signs, but I think after it becomes official he does sign. There are guys who played with him in the Jets and Packers who might be available.”

Since the Pickens trade was confirmed, the former Super Bowl champion quarterback has been linked to a possible reunion with Allen Lazard in Pittsburgh. However, with no contract signed, everything remains speculation.

Will the Steelers get a new wide receiver?

Steelers general manager Omar Khan admitted that despite the departure of George Pickens, the team is very comfortable with the wide receiver room which includes DK Metcalf, Calvin Austin III, Robert Woods, and Roman Wilson.

Although Pittsburgh seems confident with those names, another player gaining momentum is Romeo Doubs, who was also a former teammate of Aaron Rodgers. On the market, other available players include Keenan Allen, Amari Cooper, and Gabe Davis.
