NFL News: Aaron Rodgers reportedly requests huge salary from Steelers, Vikings or Giants

In a bold move as a free agent, Aaron Rodgers is reportedly demanding a massive salary from the Steelers, Vikings, or Giants. As one of the NFL's all-time greats, the four-time MVP is looking for a deal that reflects his status.

Aaron Rodgers already has a salary figure in mind for any team that tries to sign him, according to a report by Dianna Russini and Mike Silver. Approximately, a contract that pays him between $30 and $35 million per year to match what Sam Darnold got with the Seahawks. His options would be the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Minnesota Vikings, or the New York Giants.

“Rodgers, in the wake of his release by the New York Jets, is seeking an annual salary in the same general range as Darnold’s, though that’s not expected to be a major stumbling block. O’Connell, the reigning NFL coach of the year, must decide whether he’s committed to bringing in the future first-ballot Hall of Famer, while considering the effect such a move could have on the growth of second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy, the 10th pick in the 2024 draft.”

Just like two years ago when he chose the Jets, Rodgers is still waiting for the team that gives him the best chance to win the Super Bowl. Undoubtedly, the Vikings are the top candidate on that list.

What is Aaron Rodgers’ future?

The same report from Russini and Silver states that Aaron Rodgers wants to play for the Vikings. “After becoming a free agent, Aaron Rodgers remains a quarterback without a team. As the four-time MVP ponders his next move, one thing has become clear: The person who currently holds the biggest sway over his playing future is Minnesota Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell.”

However, other insiders like Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler have emphasized that Minnesota is not interested in Aaron. It’s important to remember that, just a few weeks ago, Rodgers wanted to sign with the Rams, but Matthew Stafford wasn’t traded. It will be interesting to see if the Steelers or Giants would sign the quarterback if the star views them as a second or third option.
