The Kansas City Chiefs have been active in the offseason, keeping key players for Andy Reid as well as bringing new faces to the team. But with many names still available in the open market, a former AFC West rival emerged as a potential signing for the 2025 NFL season.
Veteran safety Justin Simmons is looking for a new team after spending last year with the Atlanta Falcons, but his past with the Denver Broncos may prevent the Chiefs from being one of his favorite options.
āThis is where my heart is torn. Iāve always been so publicly against Kansas City, and itās because theyāre a really good team,ā Simmons said Tuesday on Up & Adams. āItās not like a true, āHey, I just want to beat them.ā Itās just ingrained in me to beat them.ā
Simmons, 31, went head-to-head with Reid and company from 2016 to 2023 in the Mile High city. He explained having a similar feeling to Josh Jacobs, who preferred to join the Green Bay Packers after leaving the Las Vegas Raiders.

āHe was like, āNo, I want to beat them,'ā Simmons said. āHonestly, I feel the exact same way. And so, am I shutting that door? Am I closing it? No. But I just want to be the team that beats them.ā
