NFL News: Andy Reid confirms Patrick Mahomes’ new teammate avoided serious ankle injury

Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs had a major scare during the team's first padded practice of training camp. What initially looked like a serious ankle injury turned out to be just a brief moment of concern.

Andy Reid and the Chiefs appear to have lost their status as NFL favorites. Despite keeping their core group intact with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, the team is not considered a frontrunner in the predictions to win the Super Bowl.

In fact, even within the AFC, several projections rank them third behind the Baltimore Ravens and the Buffalo Bills. Moreover, many of those predictions no longer even contemplate them as strong favorites to win their division.

Even if they don’t say it publicly, that’s a major affront to the Kansas City Chiefs. The fact that the Chargers are being considered a team of the same caliber, or that the Broncos are seen as contenders to take the AFC West from them with a second-year quarterback like Bo Nix, could spark a revenge tour to prove everyone wrong.

Who got injured with Kansas City Chiefs?

Kristian Fulton and Jake Briningstool are injured with the Kansas City Chiefs and were unable to participate in the team’s first padded practice. Additionally, in the most important news of the day, Omarr Norman-Lott gave everyone a scare with a possible ankle injury that, according to Reid, fortunately isn’t serious.

“The guys that didn’t practice were Briningstool with a hamstring strain. Fulton, knee surgery. Jawaan Taylor and Tre Watson came back. Omarr tweaked his ankle just a little bit. Yeah. He came back.”
