NFL News: Dak Prescott’s teammate puts pressure on Jerry Jones’ Cowboys for Micah Parsons’ extension

The Dallas Cowboys are shaping their roster for the 2025 NFL season, and in addition to having star quarterback Dak Prescott back from injury, team owner Jerry Jones is working on securing a contract extension for linebacker Micah Parsons.

Currently, Parsons is under contract through the end of the 2025 season, with a guaranteed salary of around $24 million due to the fifth-year option the Cowboys exercised in April 2024. His presence will be crucial for Dallas’ defense, especially to take care of the advantage that can be created in the score through Prescott’s throws on offense.

The recovery of the Cowboys’ quarterback is highly anticipated across the NFL, given that he is the highest-paid player at his position. However, it’s clear that there are other matters to address beyond Prescott. For that reason, another linebacker, DeMarvion Overshown, put pressure on Jones regarding Parsons’ contract extension.

“Everything that he’s asking for, it’s really just earned and what he deserves. How much he pours into this team, he keeps his brothers going. You can immediately tell when 11 (Parsons) is on the field with everybody. I’m looking forward to playing with him for years to come,” Overshown said about Parsons extension in an interview with Good Morning Football.

“What I want people to know about Micah Parsons is he’s a team-first guy. He wants to do what’s best for the team. He wants to win. You see just looking at the tape, you’re in the NFL and you’ve got three men blocking one person. That means he’s a monster, he’s just not another person on the field,” Overshown said.

Overshown delivered an outstanding performance, recording 90 tackles in his rookie season with the Cowboys, which came to an end in Week 14 after suffering an injury against the Cincinnati Bengals. “Just how I came off of last year, I’m 100% positive. I have my sights set high. Not only do I want to be nominated for the Comeback Player of the Year, but I’m going to be the Comeback Player of the Year,” he said about his return next season.
