Joe Milton III is the new quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys after Jerry Jones pulled off a surprising trade with the New England Patriots. For a fifth-round pick, they now have the backup they needed in case Dak Prescott suffers a setback from his hamstring injury.

During an interview with Jordan Schultz, Milton explained the reasons for choosing the Cowboys. ā€œMy family grew up a Cowboys fan. My mom always had a Cowboys shirt on. She always talked about them. Living in Texas has been a longtime dream of mine. And now I’m with them. I’m ready to work.ā€

For several months, Milton was considered on the trading block since the starter for the Patriots is Drake Maye. However, many scouts have evaluated that Joe has more talent than the quarterbacks available in the 2025 draft. In their quest for the Super Bowl, Dallas may have found a gem.

Who will be Cowboys starting quarterback?

Dak Prescott will be the starting quarterback for the Cowboys, but in case of any injury or drop in performance, Joe Milton III will be a great option as a possible backup for head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

Furthermore, looking ahead, many experts point out that with the proper development, Milton could eventually become a franchise quarterback who could take over when Prescott eventually leaves.
