The Baltimore Ravens have reached an agreement with Derrick Henry for the running back to continue playing alongside Lamar Jackson in their pursuit of a Super Bowl title. The information was confirmed by Adam Schefter.
āDerrick Henry and the Baltimore Ravens reached agreement today on a two-year, $30 million extension that includes $25 million fully guaranteed over the next two seasons, per Todd France of Athletes First. It is the largest deal in NFL history for a running back over 30 years old.ā
The Ravens have not been able to take the next step in the playoffs against rivals like the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills. However, to remain contenders, Henry is an invaluable piece and has finally been rewarded financially.
How much did the Ravens pay Derrick Henry?
The Ravens will pay Derrick Henry $15 million per season, making him one of the highest-paid running backs in the NFL. All of this is a direct consequence of how Saquon Barkley reset the market a few weeks ago.
Barkley signed a two-year, $41.2 million contract with the Eagles, raising the benchmark for the position to $20 million per season. Henry has extraordinary talent, but what likely kept him from reaching that number was his age. Either way, the deal is spectacular.
