The Philadelphia Eagles will continue using the Tush Push for at least one more season. After the Green Bay Packers’ attempt to ban the controversial play, former Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has sent a strong message to the NFL in its defense.
In recent years, the Eagles have perfected a unique short-yardage play known as the “Tush Push.” It’s essentially a quarterback sneak, but with one or two players pushing the quarterback from behind to help drive forward for a first down or touchdown.
The play has become almost unstoppable, especially in fourth-and-short or goal-line situations. Due to its effectiveness, the Packers tried to get the NFL to outlaw it—but their proposal didn’t receive enough votes. As a result, the Tush Push will remain legal for at least one more season.

Moore is widely respected as an offensive innovator, and the Saints didn’t hesitate to hire him as their new head coach. During his time in Philadelphia, the Tush Push was a key component of his system, helping the Eagles dominate in short-yardage scenarios.
The play allowed the Eagles to convert crucial downs and score touchdowns with ease, frustrating defensive opponents—hence the Packers’ push to eliminate it. But with the vote falling short, the Tush Push will live on.
Moore recently addressed the issue, revealing his support for keeping the play. He expressed satisfaction that it wasn’t banned, although he remains unsure whether he’ll incorporate it into the Saints’ playbook.

“It’s a play that obviously has drawn a lot of discussions,” Kellen Moore said Thursday, via the team’s website. “As you go through the process, I know there was an injury component that was emphasized and a speed of play both, [but I] didn’t feel like there was much data or proof to say that was justifiable as we went through that process and so, I feel good.
“I’m really happy that it didn’t go through that process, especially the way they counter moved it, with the way the potential latest proposal was to eliminate all pushing from an offensive player perspective, which created another whole can of worms that I don’t think everyone quite realized — that that occurs in a lot more football plays than just that, and so we were drastically changing a number of plays in this.!
Which teams supported the Tush Push?
