Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley will continue to lead the charge for the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2025 NFL season, though with new faces around them. After watching a teammate leave for Mike Tomlin‘s Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency, the duo learned that the Eagles landed a former weapon of Jordan Love on the Green Bay Packers.

On Wednesday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports reported that running back A.J. Dillon is joining the Eagles after spending five years with the Packers. According to ESPN, the 26-year-old is signing a one-year contract.

Dillon missed the 2024 NFL season due to a neck injury but has been cleared to return next year. The former second-round pick boasts 2,428 rushing yards on 597 carries with 16 rushing touchdowns and 2 receiving TDs in 60 appearances (11 starts).

Dillon gives Eagles RB depth after Gainwell’s exit

This move came only a day after the Eagles lost running back Kenneth Gainwell to the Steelers coached by Tomlin in free agency. The Memphis product, who recorded 1,906 total yards and 13 touchdowns in four years in Philadelphia, was Barkley’s backup last year.

Dillon is now expected to fill in the No. 2 running back spot on the Eagles’ depth chart, strengthening an already powerful backfield led by Barkley to give Hurts yet another weapon on the ground.
