Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys havenât won the Super Bowl in almost three decades, but according to new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, that drought doesnât represent pressure for him, and he doesnât see winning the championship as an obligation.
âI donât get caught up in drought. This is one year. This is the first year of mine. When the seasonâs over, we move on. We do. You move on. So, 2024 is over. Now, itâs 2025. Are we gonna win the Super Bowl this year? I hope. I think we are. If we donât, you move on. You got to 2026 and beyond, but, to sit here and say that we worry about when the last time it was, I know that stat, but I donât stay up at night going: âMan, itâs been x amount of years.â Iâm not wired that way because Iâm competing every day to try to win a Super Bowl.â
That statement has sparked a lot of controversy on social media, since the Cowboys havenât even reached the NFC Championship Game in those 30 years. Now, with an offense led by Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and George Pickens, there shouldnât be any excuses.
When was Dallas Cowboysâ last Super Bowl win?
The last Dallas Cowboysâ Super Bowl win was on January 28, 1996. On that occasion, Americaâs Team defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in an exciting game held at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona.
Since that 27-17 victory, the Cowboys havenât been able to return to the championship game, and that has caused fans to lose patience. In addition, the NFC East seems to be one of the toughest divisions in the NFL, with the Eagles and Commanders heavily in the mix.
