In a bold move to strengthen their backfield, Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed Super Bowl champion running back with the Eagles after Najee Harris left to play for the Chargers.

Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers are in a very difficult position. Within the quarterback market, their options seem to have narrowed down to Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson.

In addition, they have already lost several key pieces from their offense, such as Najee Harris, Justin Fields, James Daniels, Dan Moore, and Van Jefferson. Despite the arrival of DK Metcalf in a spectacular trade with the Seahawks, there are still many holes to fill.

Meanwhile, on defense, T.J. Watt is still waiting for his historic contract extension. The linebacker wants to win a Super Bowl in Pittsburgh, but the offer hasn’t come yet. On top of that, names like Elandon Roberts, Donte Jackson, and Larry Ogunjobi have left.

Who did the Steelers pick up in free agency?

The Steelers signed running back Kenneth Gainwell according to a report by Jordn Schultz. He was part of the Philadelphia Eagles in their recent Super Bowl season. The move is clearly to add depth to a position that was hit with the loss of Najee Harris who went to the Chargers. He’ll share the load with Jaylen Warren.

ā€œSources: The Steelers are finalizing a 1-year with former Eagles RB Kenneth Gainwell. Gainwell, who had 1,906 total yards and 13 TDs in four years with Philly, stays in the state of Pennsylvania.ā€
