NFL News: Mike Tomlin makes something clear about Aaron Rodgers and his future with Steelers

As speculation around Aaron Rodgers' future with the Steelers continues to grow, Mike Tomlin is setting the record straight. In a recent statement, Tomlin clarified where things stand with the veteran quarterback and how it could impact the team's next steps.

Aaron Rodgers can calmly assess his future, as the Pittsburgh Steelers haven’t set a timeline for him. This was Mike Tomlin’s response when asked if he inquired about the quarterback’s final decision timeline during the star player’s visit to the city.

“I didn’t (ask him about a date to decide). I really wanted to spend more of our time just getting to know him better and things that he values as a player and a man, what he might be looking for with his next stop.”

At the moment, the only options left for the former Super Bowl champion are the Steelers, the Minnesota Vikings (if they reconsider their view on J.J. McCarthy), or a potential retirement from football.

Will the Steelers sign Aaron Rodgers?

The Steelers have made an offer to sign Aaron Rodgers, but the quarterback has yet to respond. Given this situation, Mike Tomlin refrained from speculating about the future, although he admitted that the situation with the former Packers player doesn’t alter their plans leading up to the draft.

“He’s not on our team. So, I’m not going to do a whole bunch of talking about that though nice try (laughs). Hadn’t thought a lot about it to be honest with you (having Aaron’s decision before the draft). Our draft plans are our draft plans. I don’t feel like our free agency plans have been hindered by anything to be quite honest. Particularly the pursuit of one individual.”
