Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers have given Aaron Rodgers the time that no other team in the NFL was willing to wait this offseason. But with the 2025 campaign drawing nearer, fans want to hear from the quarterback soon.
During an appearance on SportsCenter on Monday, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that, even though itās taking long, Tomlin and the Steelers are not losing their patience on Rodgers. At the end of the day, they believe that the quarterback will end up playing in Pittsburgh and only needs more time to confirm it.
āPeople Iāve checked with say the Steelers remain optimistic here,ā Fowler said, via Steeler Nation. āThey have been in touch with Aaron Rodgers, but that thereās still no hard and fast update. Clearly, the Steelers are respecting Aaron Rodgersā time. He had alluded in the past on The Pat McAfee Show that he had some issues in his inner circle that he wanted to work out. So the Steelers acknowledge that and are aware of those type of situations.ā
When would the Steelers want to count on Rodgers?
That said, Fowler notes that Tomlin and company would prefer to count on Rodgers sooner rather than later. The third phase of the offseason program is right around the corner, and the Steelers would reportedly like to count on A-Rod when it starts.
āThey have May 27 OTAs (Organized Team Activities) starting,ā Fowler said. āThey would love to have him there. That gives him three weeks to potentially sign and work out with the team.ā
