The Pittsburgh Steelers aim to strengthen their roster for the 2025 NFL season and have made a key decision by adding a former teammate of quarterback Trevor Lawrence from the Jacksonville Jaguars. This news comes amid Mike Tomlin‘s team waiting for Aaron Rodgers‘ final decision.

The offseason has seen moves in various areas of the field, but for the Steelers, there is one position in particular that is receiving all their efforts: the starting quarterback for the upcoming season. Rodgers is the main target for Pittsburgh, which has already made an offer to the 41-year-old veteran.

Minnesota Vikings were one of the contenders for A-Rod, but they confirmed they are backing off from signing him to give JJ McCarthy playing time. In this context, the Steelers now have even more chances for Rodgers to choose them. Meanwhile, as the minutes and hours pass, the black & gold franchise adds a former teammate of Lawrence.

Who is the Steelers’ new player?

The former teammate of Trevor Lawrence who joins Tomlin‘s Steelers is none other than defensive tackle Esezi Otomewo, in a one-year deal, with no further details disclosed in the negotiation between both parties. The 25-year-old player appeared in four games for Jacksonville last season.
