Myles Garrett scared the Cleveland Browns this offseason, but he ultimately made fans happy by agreeing to a contract extension. Now, Kevin Stefanski and company can focus on adding a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft, with Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders as strong candidates.
Of course, the potential availability of Travis Hunter when the Browns get on the board could make the team doubt whether to use its second overall pick on a QB or go for the star cornerback/wide receiver.
Garrett, however, warned Stefanski and the front office that the Browns need a quarterback to have a strong performance in the 2025 NFL season. Right now, Kenny Pickett is the only healthy QB on the roster.
“Any team that’s going to go far needs a quarterback and one that’s young, can learn, and is willing to be patient with the process,” Garrett told Browns Radio Network, via Pro Football Talk.

Garrett willing to help the Browns new QB
The Browns are projected to select after the Titans in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, which puts them in a position to get one of the best prospects from this year’s class. In a subtle message for Ward and Sanders, Garrett already made it clear to Stefanski that the team will do whatever it takes to help whoever plays at QB.

“There’s going to be some bumps in the road. It’s going to be some learning pains. But us as a team has to be able to be a landing pad for him, and know being on the defensive side, help him out whenever things go wrong,” Garrett added.
Garrett got his money, but the Browns still have pending tasks
Garrett flirted with leaving the organization this offseason to pursue a Super Bowl elsewhere, but ended up staying in Cleveland as the Browns made him the highest-paid non-QB in the NFL with a four-year, $160 million contract extension.
Though the front office paid him, now it’s time to put the star defensive end in a position to succeed. With Deshaun Watson on the sidelines, the team has a big decision to make at quarterback.

Russell Wilson visited the Browns this offseason, but the team was reportedly unwilling to meet his salary expectations. The Draft appears to be the most logical route to find a new QB, knowing that Pickett’s experience could help the new kid on the block. Only time will tell whether that player is Ward or Sanders, unless Stefanski and the Browns do the unexpected by picking a different prospect.
