But expectations for a dynasty quickly faded. Staffordâs recurring injuries have impacted the teamâs performance, raising questions about his long-term future in Los Angeles.
This offseason, rumors swirled about a potential trade involving Stafford. Instead, the Rams extended his contract, signaling their commitment to him for at least two more seasons. Even so, the need for a long-term plan at the position remains.
While several mock drafts project the Rams to use a high-round pick on a quarterback, McVay has made it clear that heâs not focused on this yearâs QB class. In a recent statement, the coach admitted he hasnât thoroughly evaluated any quarterback prospects for the 2025 Draft.

Matthew Stafford, quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams
âI think thatâs I think thatâs unlikely,â McVay said on potentially drafting a QB this year, via SI.com. âIâll be honest with you, I havenât done a whole lot of work on the quarterbacks. I feel really good about where our quarterback room is, even though weâre not naive to the fact that Matthew hopefully got a couple more years that he wants to play. But heâs also learned the right to be able to say, âafter this year, hey, Iâm gonna, Iâm gonna go ahead and hang them up.â Iâm hopeful that thatâs not the case, but I havenât done enough work to really have an educated opinion on that. Thatâs not something that I would see us going, but maybe not.â
Who are the Ramsâ quarterbacks for the 2025 season?
With Stafford locked in for two more seasons, the Rams appear confident he can still lead them to another Super Bowl. Behind him is Jimmy Garoppolo, who signed a one-year extension this offseason and offers a solid backup option.
