Stefon Diggs is officially a member of the New England Patriots, joining a team that once claimed multiple Super Bowl victories in the 21st century but has since experienced a decline. His wealth of experience could prove pivotal, as he shared his plans to mentor younger players.

In his first comments since signing with the Patriots, Diggs discussed his intentions to help the franchise’s receiving corps, stating: “…With the young guys, I’m gonna go along and show them how to be a professional, how to handle business each and everyday. It’ll go a long way.”

Notably, the Patriots failed to produce a single 1,000-yard receiver last season. The closest were Demario Douglas, who recorded 621 yards, and tight end Hunter Henry with 674 yards. Touchdown production was also underwhelming, with just 18 total touchdowns distributed across 10 players.

Among Diggs’ standout NFL seasons is 2023, one of his last campaigns where he surpassed 1,000 receiving yards consecutively. That same year, no player in New England’s roster managed to break the 1,000-yard mark.

Stefon Diggs knows that he continues to be a valuable player

Diggs remains confident in his value as a key contributor. As Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel pointed out days before the signing, Diggs is expected to be a vital asset for quarterback Drake Maye, who needs experienced targets to realize his potential fully.

“I’m one of the only receivers to have like six 1,000-yard seasons consecutively. So as far as the production, it’s always been there…I can move the chains, I can do intermediate, I can do deep. I’ve done it all throughout my career. So my resume kind of speaks for itself…”
