With the NFL Draft just a couple of weeks away, teams are working hard to secure the best talent available as they prepare for a potential Super Bowl run in 2026. One team with championship aspirations is the Buffalo Bills, who are focused on surrounding quarterback Josh Allen with the right pieces. Among the moves they’re reportedly eyeing is an addition from the Indianapolis Colts.

With free-agent options dwindling, the Bills have already locked up four key players, including Allen. That leaves the draft as the most likely opportunity for the team to further strengthen its roster. Buffalo already has a solid foundation with Allen and head coach Sean McDermott leading the charge, but they’re aiming to add one more weapon to the offense.

Reports suggest that the Bills could be considering a deal with the Colts that would bring a boost to their offensive line. According to Tim Crean of ClutchPoints, wide receiver Alec Pierce could be included in a trade involving draft picks.

ā€œWith good depth at the position, the Colts could take a draft pick for Pierce and either select another pass-catcher in the draft or target a player at a more pressing position of need,ā€ Crean wrote in his report on the potential trade.

Pierce’s impact on the Bills’ game plan for Allen

With a number of players potentially on the move in the NFL offseason, Pierce stands out as a unique prospect. At just 24 years old, with three years of experience, and ample room to develop his skills, the Colts’ wide receiver could be the key addition the Buffalo Bills need to make a Super Bowl run next season.

Crean also weighed in on Pierce’s potential impact for the Bills, should they pursue a trade with the Colts. ā€œPierce would be the deep threat that Allen can use to stretch the field. Last season, Buffalo didn’t have a true speedster in the wide receiver room, and while that helped in some ways, limiting Allen’s tendency to go deep when in doubt, it also hindered the offense,ā€ Crean wrote.

With the possibility of acquiring the Colts’ wide receiver on the table, the Bills’ next move could prove decisive, as they’ve come close to reaching the title in recent seasons.

Pierce’s stats with the Colts

As the Bills consider a trade for the Colts’ wide receiver, who has just one year remaining on his contract, Pierce has shown impressive production in his three seasons in Indianapolis. Having played in 49 games, 41 of which he started, his most recent season was one of his best since entering the NFL.

In 2024, Pierce recorded 37 receptions, 824 receiving yards, 7 touchdowns, and 32 first downs. He averaged 22.3 yards per reception, with a longest catch of 65 yards, and posted a 53.6% catch rate.
