With the 2025 NFL Draft around the corner, many fans are wondering what the Giants will do with the No. 3 overall pick. Now, Raul Allegre, a two-time Super Bowl champion with New York, has advised the NFC East franchise not to select Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward.

The New York Giants are facing a significant challenge this year. The NFC East club currently holds the No. 3 overall pick, which has led many to believe they will draft a quarterback with it.

However, a former Giants player believes selecting a QB at No. 3 overall would be a mistake. Raul Allegre spoke exclusively with Bolavip US and shared what he believes his former club should do in the first round of this year’s draft.

The Giants are facing a franchise-altering decision. After several years of struggles, the club currently holds the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 draft, yet it’s still unclear what they will do with it.

For Raul Allegre, the answer is clear. The former Mexican kicker strongly believes the Giants should avoid drafting a quarterback — at least not with the No. 3 overall pick.

In an exclusive interview with Bolavip US, Allegre analyzed the Giants’ current situation ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. The former kicker advised the team to select Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter, or trade down if neither is available at No. 3.

“I think they should trade down,” Allegre told Bolavip US. Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter can change a franchise, and selecting either of them at No. 3 overall would be justified. However, I would trade down to acquire more draft picks this year and next year because the club lacks a lot of talent.”

Allegre, who won Super Bowls XXI and XXV with the Giants, rejected the idea of the team drafting Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward in the first round. Rumors suggest New York is even considering trading up for Ward, which the former kicker believes would be a terrible idea.

I don’t know if Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward are franchise quarterbacks, especially if you expect them to start in their rookie season,” Allegre said. “Neither Sanders nor Ward has much college experience. If the Titans are open to hearing offers for the No. 1 pick, it’s a clear sign they don’t believe there’s a franchise-altering player in this draft.”

Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward: Two risky prospects

According to Raul Allegre, Sanders and Ward should not be considered top-five selections this year. While he acknowledges their talent, the former kicker believes they lack the experience needed to thrive in the NFL.

Sanders spent only two years in college with the Buffaloes in a not-so-competitive division,” Allegre added. “And as for Ward, the ACC has declined in quality, and he has also underwent several changes in college.”
