Steelers News: After signing Aaron Rodgers and Jalen Ramsey, Mike Tomlin and Pittsburgh have reportedly fueled TJ Watt trade rumors

TJ Watt's future in Pittsburgh is suddenly in question. After a flurry of bold moves, including the headline-grabbing additions of Aaron Rodgers and Jalen Ramsey, the Steelers are shifting their offseason strategy, and league insiders say it's put Watt's contract standoff back in the spotlight.

Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers have been very active in free agency with multiple acquisitions such as Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf, Darius Slay, and a surprising trade with the Dolphins for Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith.

However, the major pending issue for the team’s front office is the contract extension of star player T.J. Watt. The linebacker is entering the final year of his current deal and, after seeing Myles Garrett receive a massive paycheck, he wants Pittsburgh to pay him what he deserves.

The question is whether the Steelers believe that paying him $40 million per season—the equivalent of a quarterback’s contract—is part of the ideal formula to compete for the Super Bowl. That uncertainty has sparked trade rumors.

Did the Steelers trade TJ Watt?

The Steelers didn’t trade T.J. Watt, although, according to the latest report from Adam Schefter, the recent moves made by general manager Omar Khan have put other NFL teams on alert.

Considering that the Pittsburgh Steelers are not following a traditional approach this offseason, even if the possibility is minimal, Schefter confirms that there have been inquiries to see if a trade for Watt is possible.
