In order to do so, there might be no better medicine than playing for silverware immediately after, and a star on the team has chosen that route as he joins Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon on Hockey Canada’s roster for the 2025 IIHF World Championship.
Canada is certainly not short on firepower at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, assembling one of the most talented rosters in its history for the tournament. Led by Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon, the Maple Leaf will be represented by a handful of NHL stars.
Crosby and Canada are sending a clear message to the rest of the world: they are gearing up for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano—and this tournament might just serve as the perfect proving ground.
In addition to Crosby, MacKinnon, Marc-André Fleury, and several other stars, Hockey Canada has announced a last-minute addition: a standout from the Kings who’s looking to wipe the slate clean after a disheartening playoff defeat at the hands of McDavid’s Oilers.

Canada’s star players will be allowed to play freely on the ice as they can trust their goaltenders to provide them with more then enough insurance in net. Along with Fleury’s addition, the Maple Leaf will feature Jordan Binnington on its lineup.
Binnington is coming off a heartbreaking Game 7 loss in double overtime against the Winnipeg Jets which knocked the St. Louis Blues out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

However, his last experience with the national team is much more exciting. Binnington held his ground during the 4 Nations Championship Game against Team USA, shutting the door on the star-studded American roster en route to the 3-2 overtime win.
