Brandon Tanev has spent four seasons with the Seattle Kraken, experiencing both highs and lows that have ultimately been beneficial to his career. However, according to a new report, he may be ready to move on in search of a bigger opportunity with a more competitive team.

Pierre LeBrun reports that Tanev is attracting interest from NHL teams with serious playoff aspirations. “He is generating interest from both Cup contenders and bubble teams,” LeBrun wrote on his personal X account, signaling that multiple organizations are keeping an eye on the veteran forward.

The report also indicates that Tanev prefers joining a well-established contender. “He has a modified no-trade, and the word from teams around the league is that he would prefer going to an upper-echelon contender.” Despite his years in the league, Tanev has yet to win an NHL championship.

While it’s not guaranteed that he will land with a top-tier team, the Ottawa Senators have previously been mentioned as a potential suitor. However, his future will likely be determined closer to the trade deadline. “Obviously, July 1 could be a different story as far as looking at potential fits elsewhere (Ottawa as a possible example),” LeBrun added.
