Brad Marchand just achieved one of the biggest milestones of his career by winning the NHL Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers after 14 years of efforts with the Boston Bruins. For the 37-year-old veteran, the ambition to keep winning doesn’t stop there, and he is already thinking about fulfilling goals as part of Team Canada, which also features Connor McDavid as one of its key players.
After winning the 4 Nations Face-Off in February, in a historic final against Team USA featuring a goal from McDavid, Marchand wants to remain relevant in the selection process for the Canadian national team and has sent a message that could be important for his future aspirations.
Marchand was not included in the first group of six players announced for Canada’s men’s Olympic hockey team, but the Panthers star continues to aspire to represent his country at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.
Marchand’s message about being back at Team Canada
“Look, it’s the highest achievement you can have as a Canadian-born player, to be part of Team Canada. So yeah, it’s obviously a goal and something I’m going to shoot for,” Marchand confessed about his goal to play in the Olympics this February, according to Sports Illustrated.

“Obviously, that’s next year’s task and one of the goals on the docket. Obviously, there are a million players who could play on that team. Canada is so deep and has a tremendous amount of talent, so it’s going to be an uphill battle,” admitted the Panthers star.

What do they think in Team Canada about Marchand’s inclusion?
Hockey Canada’s general manager, Doug Armstrong, has spoken about the veteran’s possible presence on the Olympic team and has not ruled it out. “I talked to him just last week about how impressed we all are about how he’s playing. He’s playing fantastic. He certainly, as I said to him, has every opportunity to make the Olympic team,” Armstrong said to NHL.com.
