The Pittsburgh Penguins will try to make the most of Sidney Crosby in his final years. The big question is which of his teammates will remain to help the veteran in his pursuit of another Stanley Cup.
That uncertainty surrounding the roster has sparked many rumors about Crosbyâs future. Various reports have linked him as a potential option to join either the Montreal Canadiens or the Colorado Avalanche alongside Nathan MacKinnon.
Thatâs why the coming days will send a very clear message about the approach general manager Kyle Dubas wants to take. A key piece in that picture is Erik Karlsson.
Will Penguins trade Erik Karlsson?
According to a report by Chris Johnston, a trade involving Erik Karlsson is still not completely off the table. In fact, the insider noted that if the player feels the Penguins are not true contenders as the season goes by, he could request a move himself.
âI think a Karlsson trade is still possible, but, the Penguins arenât just giving him away. They still correctly see him as someone who can make a difference. He still does the thing that teams need in terms of driving the puck up ice. I think thereâs still a lot of good in his game. I have to think heâs going to get antsy at a certain point. I think as much as Pittsburgh is a great fit for his family, heâs only got so much time remaining on his clock too.â
