Brady Tkachuk has been injured since March 30th and had never spoken to the press until he decided to break the silence and share his thoughts on the 2024-25 NHL season. The captain of the Ottawa Senators directly mentioned when he plans to return to the ice.
The Senators forward has missed the team’s last five games. It’s a reasonable timeframe considering Ottawa’s position in the standings, as there’s no rush for Tkachuk to return before fully recovering from the upper-body injury he suffered during the 1–0 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Tkachuk has shown a favorable evolution when it comes to thinking about his recovery, as he returned on Thursday, complying with a rigorous preparation that has a single goal in mind: to arrive in good rhythm to the league playoffs.
Tkachuk broke silence about his injury
“I need to make sure I’m ready physically, because mentally I’ve been waiting for this moment. But I’m not worried about that. Feeling good, yeah, progressing day in and day out. My focus is feeling good today. I think I’m starting to skate again these days, so I’m excited about that. Just going to continue to get better every single day,” Tkachuk said according to NHL.com.

Brady Tkachuk #7 of the Ottawa Senators skates against the Washington Capitals during the first period at Capital One Arena on March 03, 2025 in Washington, DC.
Will Tkachuk play in the NHL playoffs?
“I don’t think I’d ever miss an opportunity to play in the playoffs, but I’m not looking too far in advance. I’m looking forward to skating tomorrow, feeling good and going from there,” Tkachuk said in response to a question about whether he’ll be ready for the postseason.
