México is a country with a rich story when it comes to soccer. Their national team isn't the strongest of all but wherever they go and in any tournament they compete, they have a good performance. Some of their players have been great in foreign leagues and in recent times, the number of Mexican players in Europe has increased. 

Playing in Europe is the dream of many of these players and winning title in the old continent is something unexplicable for them. There are players who have played in England, Spain, Germain, Portugal and more European leagues. Only a bunch of them have made the leap and were actually able to lift trophies in these competitions.

Today, we're going to take a look at the players that won domestic and international competitions in Europe, signing their name on one of the biggest list in Mexican football history. 

14. Diego Reyes   

After starting his career with América, he was transferred in the summer of 2013 to Portuguese side FC Porto. He was not a regular in the starting 11 and was loaned out on two seperate occasion to La Liga clubs Real Sociedad and Espanyol.
 
Upon returning to Porto, he began to play more and became an integral part of the team. He shared a dressing room with international teammates, Héctor Herrera and Jesús Corona, and together they helped the club win the 2017/2018 league title. 
 

13. Jonathan dos Santos  

A regular on the Mexican national team and currently applying his trait in MLS with the Los Angeles Galaxy, he moved at an early age with his brother Giovani to Spain to join the youth academy at FC Barcelona. He rose through the ranks and made his professional debut during the 2009/2010 season. 
 
In five seasons, he did not get much playing time, but did win three La Liga titles with the Blaugranas and was a part of the 2011 team that won the Champions League.
 

12. Héctor Moreno 

The defender has played in many league across Europe, but his most successful period came while playing in the Netherlands where he won league titles with two different teams.
 
Moreno won his first Dutch title in the 2008/2009 season while playing for AZ Alkmaar. After a brief spell in La Liga with Espanyol, he returned to the Dutch Eredivisie to play for PSV Eindhoven where he would win another league title in the 2015/2016 season.
 

11. Carlos Salcido

The former defender played 119 games for Mexico and represented his country at three World Cups. After a great performance at the 2006 World Cup, PSV Eindhoven signed him and he would go on to win two straght Dutch Eredivisie titles in 2007 and 2008. 
 
He briefly played in England with Fulham before returing to Mexico where he would play the remainder of his career. He retired after the 2019 season.
 

10. Hirving Lozano

Before moving to Europe, Hirving Lozano had won the 2016 Clausura Tournament and the CONCACAF Champions League with Pachuca. After signing for PSV Eindhoven, it did not take him long to adapt to the league and he was instrumental in the team winning the Dutch Eredivisie in 2017/2018 scoring 17 goals and 9 assists in 29 games. 
 
His second season was equally as great, but the team failed to retain the league title finishing in second behind Ajax. He was transferred in the summer of 2019 to Italian side Napoli.
 

9. Héctor Herrera 

After a steller performance at the 2013 Confederations Cup with Mexico, FC Porto signed him and fellow compatriot Diego Reyes that same summer. that same summer, along with fellow compatriot Diego Reyes who was also signed during the summer 2013 transfer window. 
 
He played 245 games for Porto and was a vital player for the team, but the club had not won the league title since 2013. Porto would finally break that streak in 2018 and Herrera would lift the Portuguese title, alongside Mexican teammates Diego Reyes and Jesus Corona. 
 

8. Jesús Corona

After a brief spell in Holand with Twente, Jesus Corona moved in 2015 to Portugal to sign for FC Porto where he would share a dressing room with Mexican internationals Héctor Herrera and Diego Reyes.
 
It did not take long for him to win a spot in the starting 11 and would prove to be an fundamental player as Porto would win the 2017/2018 league title.  
 

7. Andrés Guardado

The Mexican national team midfielder has played most of his career in La Liga. He first moved to Spain in 2007 to play for Deportivo La Coruña where he stayed for five seasons and even played a season in second division when the team was relegated in 2011. He briefly played for Valencia and is currently playing for Betis, but it was not until he moved to the Netherlands where he would win his first league title. 
 
After a great performance at the 2014 World Cup, he signed for PSV Eindhoven that same summer and would be to be an instrumental player for the teams. It did not take long for him to achieve success as the club would win two straight Dutch Eredivisie titles in 2015 and 2016.
 

6. Raúl Jiménez 

After a short spell in La Liga with Atletico Madrid, Raul Jimenez moved to Portugal in the summer of 2015 to sign for Benfica where he would show his full potential. In three seasons, he would score 31 goals in 120 appearances, helping the club win two league titles in 2016 and 2017. 
 
In the summer of 2018, he moved to English Premier League to sign for Wolverhampton Wanderers where he leads the team in goals and is one of the league's best strikers. 
 

5. Ricardo Osorio

The former Mexican internation played 75 times for his country and played in two World Cups, but it was after his great performances at the 2006 World Cup that impressed many European clubs. He moved that summer to Germany to sign for VfB Stuttgart, along with countrymen Pavel Pardo and the pair would made history just a year later.  
 
The defender quickly won a spot in the starting 11 and would help the club win the Bundesliga title in 2006/2007. He would play for Stuttgart until 2011 and moved back to Mexico where he would play the remainder of his career.

 

4. Pavel Pardo 

His performances at the 2006 World Cup caught the attention of VfB Stuttgart, who signed him and international teammate Ricardo Osorio. The two made history by becoming the first Mexican's to play in the Bundesliga and they would both become fundamental players for the team.  
 
Pardo quickly became a regular in the starting 11 and would help Stuttgart win the Bundesliga title in 2007. He left the club in 2009 to return to Mexico and would finish his career with MLS side Chicago Fire. 

 

3. Javier "Chicharito" Hernández

When talking about Mexican's abroad, it is impossible not to mention Chicharito Hernandez. His move in 2010 from Chivas to Manchester United sent shockways across Mexico and around the world. 
 
He wasted no time adapting to the English game, scoring 13 league goals in his first season and helping the Red Devil win the Premier League title in 2011. He won another league title in 2013 and would score a total of 59 goals for the club before leaving to join Real Madrid in the summer 2014.

 

2. Rafael Márquez

One of Mexico's most succesful players in history. He would win his first league title in France with AS Monaco in the 1999/2000 season, but it would be at FC Barcelona where he would make his name. 
 
After signing for Barcelona in 2003, he became a regular in the starting 11 and would go on to win four La Liga trophies and two Champions League titles. He was also part of the 2009 team that won the treble. 

 

1. Hugo Sánchez 

Mexico's greatest player in its history of course would top this list. After playing four seasons with Atletico Madrid, he moved in 1985 to arch rivals Real Madrid, which his where he would make his name as a world class striker. 
 
Along with many individual awards, he would win five straight Spanish league titles between 1986 and 1990 with the Merengues. He would also go on to win two Copa del Rey trophies (one of them with Atletico Madrid) and a UEFA Cup title.
