Australia play against Egypt at Miyagi Stadium on July 28, 2021 at 7:00 AM (ET) in the last round of the group stage of the soccer tournament at the 2020 Olympics. The Australia group situation is hot. The Socceroosmust win or draw if they want to continue dreaming of a gold medal. The Group C is lead by Spain.

Egypt has a minimal chance to continue in the fight for gold. But they must win against the Australians and knock them out of soccer tournaments at the 2020 Olympics. The only thing Egypt has to do in this game is win, losing isn’t allowed. The Africans are last in group C with a draw and a loss.

No one expected Australia to win the first game of the tournament against Argentina. But history is already written: a top notch victory and three points. Now, after the defeat against Spain, things have changed. Tomorrow, Group C will be defined, and a team will be out of the tournament.

Australia vs Egypt: Storylines

The gold medal is special, it is not the World Cup, but it still counts as a very important event for soccer. Australians, as a soccer team, do not have gold medals. The Socceroos have won several continental titles: Asian Cup and OFC Nations Cup. Since 1956, Australia has been present at most of the Summer Olympics events but without winning soccer tournament medals.

Egypt has a similar history, but with the only difference that the pharaohs have played soccer in more Olympic Games than the Australians. Experience is what counts. Egypt’s only point in Group C is thanks to a 0-0 draw against Spain. That was the best game of the African team in the 2020 Olympics.

Both teams are good at what they do. Australia and Egypt have played each other a couple of times, one win each, similar numbers and nothing surprising. The game will be physical, the midfield will play a fundamental role for the victory.

Australia vs Egypt: Predictions And Odds

The hardest decision is to choose a side for this game. But thank goodness there are no favorites. The two teams are underdogs. Australia at +175 odds is a bit more lucrative than Egypt at +170 odds. That five-point difference in odds doesn’t say much, just that the pharaohs are slightly more favored. The draw is tempting at +250 odds at Draftkings.
