Diego Maradona had a very moving life, some would say it was crazy, a complete rollercoaster, but all the things he lived helped him shape his vision of life. Truth be told, Diego had some interesting things to say about the world and nobody can deny that.

Now that he’s sadly gone, an old video of Diego has resurfaced of the time he asked himself about death. Back in 2005, Maradona had a variety show called ā€˜El Show del 10’, where he interviewed a lot of people, including Brazilian legendPelĆ©.

At the time, Diego had himself as a guest, dropping one of the deepest questions somebody has to answer. It wasn’t easy to reply to, but he managed to deliver a good answer, always thanking soccerand the ball for all the joy it brought to him.

ā€œIf you had to say something to yourself at your funeral, what would you say?ā€

ā€œWhat would I say? And you’re asking me this?

ā€œYou brought up the subject! I didn’t speak about death. You did.ā€

ā€œThank you for playing soccer. It’s the sports that gave me the most happiness, liberty… It’s like touching the sky with my hands. Thanks to the ball. I’d put it on my tombstone. Thanks to the soccer ball.ā€

Then, Diego asked himself what he would like his ex-wife Claudia to say at his funeral and the answer wasn’t as easy as the first one. He took some time before finally speaking, delivering another great message.

ā€œEven though you’re dead, I still love you,ā€ Diego added.

This has to be one of the toughest videos to see right now. Diego left and he left a big mark behind. He’s irreplaceable and the world knows that. It’s incredible that he spoke about this topic 15 years ago and this video sums up what he thought all the time. The ball was sacred for Diego and nobody can change that.
