Lionel Messi reportedly set to sign new deal with Inter Miami: How old will he be when it expires?

According to reports, Lionel Messi has reached an agreement to sign a new three-year contract with Inter Miami.

Inter Miami is coming off a 2-1 win over Atlas in the 2025 Leagues Cup, a match in which Lionel Messi shined by delivering two assists.At the same time, the Argentine star was in discussions with David Beckham and Jorge Mas to secure his future with the club — discussions that, according to reports, have already been resolved.

Messi’s current contract with Inter Miami runs through December 2025. However, reports indicate he has agreed to extend his stay with the Herons until December 2028, which would see him play professionally until age 41.

The information was reported by journalist Xavi Campos on the Catalan radio show Tot Costa, who added that the new deal is expected to be signed in the coming days.

With the arrival of Rodrigo De Paul, optimism in Miami has surged regarding Messi’s future, as the two will now reunite at club level after years of playing together with Argentina’s national team.

In addition, Messi became the first player in MLS history to score two goals in five consecutive league matches, finding the net against Montreal CF (twice), New England Revolution, Columbus Crew, and Nashville SC.
