Defender Jorge Sanchez put the national team coached by Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino ahead, but Jonatha Osorio equalized for the visitors three minutes before the end of the first half. With the draw, the USMNT finished the round at the top of the standings.

Canada, on the other hand, got their first victory in the tournament against El Salvador (3-0). Before that, Les Rouges drew their first two matches against Honduras and the United States. Both matches ended up in a 1-1 result.
