Mexico claimed a much-needed victory in the opening matchday of the Final Round of the Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers. They beat Jamaica 2-1 in a dramatic game at home to seal the three points.

Things didn't get off to a great start as Rogelio Funes Mori missed a big occasion to put them in front. Even though Alexis Vega broke the deadlock in the second half, Shamar Nicholson put things level to threaten the hosts. When it seemed like the draw was inevitable, Henry Martín fired El Tri to the victory. Check out the highlights and goals here.

Mexico vs Jamaica: Match Preview

Mexico and Jamaica meet today at the Estadio Azteca for Matchday 1 of the Final Round of the Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers for Qatar 2022. Both teams want to start with a victory in The Octagonal. Here, check out everything there’s to know about this exciting soccer match such as the preview, information, storylines, predictions, odds and how to watch it in the US.

El Tricolor want to start their campaign with the right foot, especially after losing to the United States in the Gold Cup 2021 final. Now, with almost all the players available, Tata Martino’s side are expecting to qualify an eighth successive time for the World Cup.

On the other hand, Jamaica will try to put things hard for all the teams in the round robin. Whitmore’s side may have players without much experience, but they certainly can be a hard pill to swallow. Also, Jamaica won against Mexico last time they met, so they want to repeat the same result.
