Bayern Munich suffered a 5-0 loss to Borussia Mƶnchengladbach in the second round of the 2021-22 DFB Pokal on Wednesday and are out of the tournament. Bayern hadnāt conceded 4 goals or more in a German Cup match since the 2012 final against Borussia Dortmund (5-2).
It was also the first time they were three goals down in the first half since April 2014 when they lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League semi finals. Before this match, Julian Nagelsmannās side had only lost once this campaign and they were looking to make it four wins in a row.
Kouadio Kone (2ā), Rami Bensebaini (15ā, 21ā p.), and Breel Embolo (51ā, 57ā) were the goalscorers for Gladbach. Last time Gladbach defeated Bayern was precisely at the beginning of the year, in January, 3-2 for the Bundesliga.
