Following many headline-making signings, the summer transfer window came to an end. But that wouldn't prevent Inter Milan from planning their next moves in the future, as they are reportedly thinking about a plan to land a Napoli star whose deal expires at the end of the 2021-2022 season.

Romelu Lukaku's return to Chelsea meant a huge blow to the Nerazzurri, who lost firepower up front. But they moved fast to replace him, landing AS Roma's Edin Dzeko as well as Lazio's Joaquin Correa.

However, throughout the summer Inter were heavily linked with a move for Serie A rivals' player that seems to be their priority target for next season. Although they failed to sign him this year, they would be already preparing how to approach him in January.

Inter Milan don't give up on Napoli star, prepare lucrative contract to sign him for free

Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport reported that Inter Milan are already thinking about closing in on Lorenzo Insigne in the winter transfer window, where he could negotiate for a pre-contract agreement.

Inter would hope that Insigne hasn't agreed to a new deal by then, enabling him to discuss with other clubs for a free move in June 2022. The Nerazzurris would be willing to offer him a four-year deal worth €31 million.

The contract would consist of a €6 million salary per season plus a €7 million signing bonus. Insigne, 30, is a Napoli product and has only left them a few times on loan. Will this season be his last one at the club where he rose to stardom?
