Even though it seemed like they were having a bright start to the season, Tottenham have fallen apart over the last few weeks and they find themselves in a worryingspot with six rounds into the 2021-22 Premier League.

However, that wouldn’t prevent them from thinking about the long term. While Tottenham must turn things around on the pitch fast, they may also prepare for thosecontracts that will expire next summer.

Johnstone was valued at£15 million ($20m) this summer but no club was willing to satisfy The Baggies’ demands. West Ham were reportedly interested in him but a£11m ($14.7m) offer wasn’t enough to match West Brom’s expectations.

However, the England international – whoearned his first senior cap after an outstanding 2020-21 season – has also entered the final year of his contract. So, if Spurs decide he is capable of replacing Lloris, they could even land him for free.
