Caeleb Dressel was born just days after the Atlanta 1996 Games Closing Ceremony. His journey to becoming one of the world’s best swimmers wasn’t precisely easy and rosy. Dressel began swimming at the age of 12 after playing American football for several years. He was a natural in the water. After breaking his first NAG record in 2012, Dressel became the first swimmer under 16 to break 20 seconds in the 200-yard freestyle relay. He then broke his first NAG record, which had been set in 1990, in the 100-meterfreestyle for 15-16 year-olds.

Dressel holds the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle records, as well as the 50-meter and 100-meter butterfly records for the United States (all long course).
