The wait is over, Tokyo 2020 has arrived and France can't wait to get their campaign started. It's been a while since their last and lone gold medal thus far, which is why they have high ambitions for these Olympic Games. But they'll show up without Kylian Mbappé.

The 22-year-old will have to keep on waiting at least for another three years to make his first appearance in the Summer Olympics as he has also missed the previous edition held in Río de Janeiro, Brazil.

Many people could have expected the PSG sensation to be leading his country at the ultimate sports event, yet his club had other plans for him. Mbappé had no other choice but to accept it, while his Olympics dreams remain unfulfilled.

Although he seemed eager to represent his country at the Olympic Games, Paris Saint-Germain forbid Kylian Mbappé from playing at Tokyo 2020. The French giants have also disallowed Neymar and others from participating in the competition.

Apparently, PSG didn't want to miss any of their key players for the beginning of preseason, while they were worried that Mbappe wouldn't get enough time to rest if he traveled to Tokyo. Not long ago, he has also played for France at Euro 2020.

Besides, as it's not a FIFA tournament, the Ligue 1 side wasn't obliged to releasing its players. PSG knew that Mbappé would need vacations at some point, and they preferred that he had them before the final stretch of preseason.
