Jannik Sinner returned to the court stronger than ever after serving a three-month suspension. Competing at the Rome Masters 1000, the Italian delivered an emphatic performance in the quarterfinals, defeating reigning Madrid Masters champion Casper Ruud 6-0, 6-1. With this victory, Sinner joined tennis royalty by matching a remarkable record held by Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal.
With the win, Sinner notched his 25th consecutive victory, joining an exclusive club of players to achieve this milestone in the 21st century. This select group includes Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Andy Murray—widely regarded as the most dominant players of the last two decades.
Not only is Sinner setting remarkable records since his return, but he’s also showcasing a level of play that continues to improve with each match. Sinner has made history as the first Italian to reach the Rome Open final since Adriano Panatta in 1978.
Additionally, he has joined Andy Murray (2016) as one of only two players to reach seven consecutive ATP finals, further cementing his place among the sport’s elite.

When was Sinner’s last defeat?
Jannik Sinner’s last loss came on October 2, 2024, when he fell to Carlos Alcaraz in the ATP Beijing final. Since that setback, the Italian has gone on an incredible run, racking up 25 consecutive victories.
The Italian’s streak includes six wins to claim the Masters1000 title in Shanghai, five victories to secure the ATP Finals, three matches to lead Italy to a Davis Cup championship, seven triumphs to win the Australian Open, and four wins so far at the Masters 1000 in Rome.
The Roland Garros challenge
Sinner’s comeback has been sensational, and he wants to culminate it by being champion at the Rome Masters 1000 against Alcaraz. His plans then take him to Roland Garros, as he has announced his withdrawal from the ATP 500 in Hamburg.
Winning the French Open would be a monumental milestone for the Italian. Having already captured the Australian Open titles in 2024 and 2025, as well as the 2024 US Open, Sinner is two titles shy of completing a career Grand Slam. To achieve that feat, he’ll need to add trophies from Roland Garros and Wimbledon to his already impressive collection.
