Everything that could’ve gone wrong has gone wrong for the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/atlanta-falcons" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Atlanta Falcons </a>this season. From injuries to their star players to losing close games they should’ve won, it’s been a bad campaign overall.

“The hard part for us is we dedicate so much time and people into special teams, right?” Morris continued. “We have people on our roster that are strictly dedicated to it. We went out and got these people. We sought them out. We found them. We put them on our grass. We put them on our football team, and they’re out there to make those plays, and we’ve got to make them.”



The devil is in the details, and you have to dominate all three phases of the game to succeed in this league. With that approach, Morris might not survive another season in Atlanta.

“It is frustrating because my job as a coach is to always try and help our team in the best way to win games,” he said. “It’s frustrating because you look at those two plays, we don’t get a second chance on those plays. There is no second down, and those are critical errors.”&nbsp;



“Biggest thing on special teams is doing your job,” linebacker and special teams contributor JD Bertrand said Monday. “You’re one of 11, and if one person’s outside of their gap, it can create a hole. So that’s the biggest thing, and that’s emphasis on making sure guys do their job.”&nbsp;

Kirk Cousins can still provide quality for the Falcons, but the season in general hasn’t been that positive for Raheem Morris‘ team. On the other end, the Saints will try to worsen their rivals’ situation and give them their sixth consecutive loss.&nbsp;

Sunday’s game will be Moore’s first Saints-Falcons as New Orleans head coach. Talking with reporters on Monday, the coach shared his expectations for the game and the week ahead.

“This is my first experience, I’m excited about this opportunity,” Moore said. “We know the importance of your division games, with these guys. The rich history (of) this game, so it gonna be be a lot of fun, and I think as this week progresses, a lot of us are gonna get to experience it for the first time, which I’m excited for.”



Moore admitted that he was aware the Falcons and Saints had a heated rivalry, even before he signed with the team. These two teams are anything but contenders right now, but neither wants to lose this game.&nbsp;

The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/atlanta-falcons" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Atlanta Falcons</a> may have lost more than their Week 11 duel on Sunday. The Carolina Panthers again scored 30 points on Atlanta to secure an overtime win. The Falcons responded with 27 units, but it wasn’t enough to end their four-game losing streak.&nbsp;



Michael Penix Jr. sounded the alarms with a knee injury he suffered late in the game. The second-year quarterback exited the game in the Falcons’ final drive in the third quarter. Kirk Cousins replaced him for the remainder of the game, which didn’t change much for Atlanta.&nbsp;



Head coach Raheem Morris didn’t have an update on Penix’s injury after the game, adding that he could have sent the quarterback back to the field, but it didn’t feel ok.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported on Monday that Penix’s injury could potentially keep him out of action for the rest of the 2025<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> NFL</a> season.&nbsp;

The former Washington star got hurt in a third-and-10 play from Atlanta’s own 22-yard line. He was tackled by Carolina safety Tre’von Moehrig after throwing an incomplete pass.&nbsp;&nbsp;



Penix couldn’t get up right away and was helped off the field by trainers. He left the game after going 13 of 16 for 175 yards. Cousins went 6 of 14 for 48 yards. The player is reportedly seeking second options, but the picture doesn’t look promising.&nbsp;



Atlanta lost its fifth consecutive game against the Panthers. It will clash with the New Orleans Saints in Week 12, probably without its starting quarterback.&nbsp;

According to Adam Schefter, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/michael-penix-jr" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Michael Penix Jr.</a> suffered a potentially season-ending knee injury. Still, the quarterback will look for a second opinion. Even with that, it’s not a promising scenario for the second-year signal-caller.



Penix has a long history of knee injuries. He suffered ACL tears to his left knee in both the 2018 and 2020 seasons in college. It seems like a long story of unfortunate events for Penix.



<h2>Who is next on the Falcons QB depth chart?</h2>



If Penix is out, NFL veteran <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/kirk-cousins" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kirk Cousins</a> is the next man up. He has played in three games this season only starting one of them. Cousins has completed 61.5% of his passes, 250 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions.

Cousins was 7-7 last season with the Falcons and has been on a steep decline since 2023. He had two Pro Bowl seasons in 2021 and 2022, but after that, it’s not been good. He also played against the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/carolina-panthers" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Panthers</a> last time where they were shut out. The other quarterback is Easton Stick.

<h2>Penix wasn’t stellar either</h2>



Missing Penix is not nice. Still, it’s not like an MVP-caliber quarterback is gone. Penix is still learning the ropes of the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NFL</a>. He has shown flashes of talent but he was still a middle-of-the-pack quarterback.



Penix is 3-6, completing 60.1% of his passes for 1,982 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions. His passer rating is very average too with an 88.5 rate. The season for the Falcons is almost lost, and the quarterback play is one of the main reasons why.

However, there might be a key factor to the divisional matchup in Week 11 of the 2025 NFL season, as Drake London has been confirmed to play.



Concern around London’s status wasn’t limited to the fanbase in Atlanta. Fans across the country were stressed about the star wideout’s availability for fantasy football reasons. With one of the best wide receivers in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NFL</a> in doubt for such a pivotal game for the Falcons, concerns had grown loud in the Gate City of the South.



Initially listed as questionable due to a back injury and illness, insider Adam Schefter reports London will be active for the matchup between the 3-6 Falcons and the 5-5 Panthers in Week 11 of the NFL campaign.



Michael Penix Jr. and the Falcons’ offense rely heavily on their WR1’s production. So far in the 2025 NFL season, London has virtually been the entire passing attack for Atlanta. With him in the lineup, running backs Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier get a big weight off their shoulders. Plus, his presence keeps Carolina on its toes, as Atlanta can be lethal both through the ground and air.

<h2>The numbers behind London’s superb season</h2>



The product out of the University of Southern California has had a magical season in his fourth year in the NFL. So far, through 8 appearances, London registers 53 receptions for 691 receiving yards — 7th best in the league — and 6 touchdown catches, which is tied for fourth most.

With him in the lineup, the Falcons can truly put together a two-headed monster with an impressive passing game and a second-to-none rushing attack with the likes of Robinson and Allgeier. However, both sides of the offense are complementary. If one side crumbles, the other is left out to dry.



<h2>Wipe the slate clean</h2>



The Panthers are a better team than most fans in the NFL gave them credit for coming into the season. Carolina proved its worth with a commanding 30-0 victory over Atlanta—a precedent that is sure to be floating over the Falcons’ heads as they head into the rematch.



There’s much to prove for Raheem Morris’ side. With or without London, the Falcons must change the tune and give the Panthers a taste of their own medicine. If not, falling to 3-7 without yet registering a divisional victory could well be all she wrote for the organization in The Big Peach.
