For months, the Washington Commanders have been expected to take Jayden Daniels in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nfl-draft" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NFL Draft</a>. They have the second-overall pick, and he’s clearly the second-best prospect in this class.



However, there have been plenty of conflicting reports about Daniels and the Commanders. According to some rumors, he would rather play for the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/las-vegas-raiders" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Las Vegas Raiders</a> or <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/minnesota-vikings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Minnesota Vikings </a>instead.



The Commanders hosted him alongside multiple quarterback prospects for a top-30 visit. That wasn’t an orthodox way to do things, leading to speculation about whether they were high enough on him or not.

Nonetheless, the LSU star claimed that it was actually quite fun. He thought the team was looking to switch things up a little and get to watch them in a different environment:

“I think it was just to be able to have fun,” Daniels said of the visit. “Honestly, I don’t think they were really looking at how the quarterbacks interacted with each other because only one of us is going to be there.”



More than that, Daniels cleared the air on the rumors about him not wanting to play in Maryland, adding that he’s just happy for the opportunity to play in the NFL:



“So, I think it was obviously [to] kind of switch it up from how people do other top-30 visits. Be able to just go out there, have fun and just be around people that you’re in the process with and not really worry too much about, ‘Oh, I have to remember this play,’ and stuff like that. I think it was more so just to have fun,” Daniels said. “Everything is good. I’m just happy to go wherever I’m going.”

On paper, Daniels seems perfect for Kliff Kingsbury’s offense. So, even if the Commanders aren’t at the top of his preferred destinations, they might bring the best out of his game.

Offensive lineman Nick Allegretti, for instance, started in Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers but decided to walk away in free agency. At 27, he will start a new chapter with the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/washington-commanders">Washington Commanders</a>.



“I have a ton of respect for the guys in Kansas City,” Allegretti said, via the Commanders’ official website. “I enjoyed my role there, but I think I had gotten to the point in my career where I wanted to come and be a starter in Week 1. That’s my goal coming to Washington. I felt like a starter. I knew that I could be a Day 1 starter, and that’s what I’m here to prove.”



<h2>Allegretti follows former Chiefs teammate to Washington</h2>



While Allegretti certainly made the best of the open market to get a nice deal – his three-year contract in Washington includes $9.02 million guaranteed, the reason he’s leaving Arrowhead is to guarantee himself a starting spot.

The Commanders are entering the new season with a new-look offensive line, though two starters from 2023 are expected to return. One of them is right tackle Andrew Wylie, who spent five years in Kansas City before moving to the capital city last year. Now, Allegretti is following in his former teammate’s footsteps.

In 1932, George Preston Marshall founded the Boston Braves, a team that evolved over time to become the Washington Commanders, as we know them today.



This name was presented in 2022. Previously, the team was known as the Redskins, but in 2020, they discarded it after numerous protests claimed it alluded to racism.



<h2>Jason Wright unveils whether the Commanders will change their name again soon</h2>



The 2019 season was the last one in which Washington used the Redskins name. Several protests around the country made the team change the nickname, and the franchise had no other choice but to comply to them.

“I’d feel the same as it would be with anybody else: if it’s the right thing to do, that’s what it is, and I don’t take anything personally. But, it’s not a priority right now,” Jason Wright said about changing the team’s name.

However, Wright added that the club is focused on “a million other things” and that the name is not a priority for them right now. They will address the matter soon, but they first need to build a competitive roster to face the 2024 season.

In the weeks prior to his exit from Foxborough, Belichick was linked to a number of teams, including with a possible move to Dallas if the Cowboys had another playoff collapse. The team did suffer an early elimination, but Jerry Jones decided to keep Mike McCarthy regardless.



The next team to be seriously mentioned as Belichick’s possible landing spot were the Falcons. However, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Atlanta ultimately opted to hire Rams’ defensive coordinator Raheem Morris to replace Arthur Smith. But how is it possible that a successful coach like Belichick is still without a team? Let’s take a look at three possible reasons.

One of the few, but biggest complains about Belichick’s tenure in New England was his complete authority over the team’s football operations (especially in the post-Tom Brady era).

While praised for his coaching abilities that led to one of the greatest dynasties in sports history, Belichick’s decisions as the de facto general manager at Patriots in the last few years have often let a lot to be desired.

It’s possible that, even with everything he won in his 20-plus tenure with the Patriots, Belichick has so far been overlooked due to his age. The 6x Super Bowl winner turns 72 in April, and while there shouldn’t be anything wrong with that, it looks like NFL teams are looking for younger coaches.



With Pete Carroll, 72, also parting with Seattle this year, Andy Reid (who turns 66 in March) has been left as the oldest active coach in the league at 65. Even though Belichick has shown what he’s capable of, it seems that many teams prefer to see what younger coaches can bring to the league. But there are still a few vacancies.



The Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders are the only teams looking for a head coach now, but Belichick has only interviewed with Atlanta so far. We’ll have to wait and see whether he gets one of these remaining opportunities, or if another team decides to make a coaching change.

It was just a matter of time before the Washington Commanders showed Ron Rivera the door. His tenure in Maryland was a major disappointment, as the team couldn’t even keep up with the rest of its division despite boasting plenty of talent on both sides of the field.

NFL Rumors: Bill Belichick might be one step closer to the Commanders

The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/washington-commanders">Washington Commanders </a>faced another disappointment last week, extending their losing streak to six games since Week 10. They fell narrowly to the New York Jets by a score of 28-30. Adding to the frustration, their 2nd quarterback, Jacoby Brissett, was injured, forcing them to sign a new signal-caller from the practice squad.



The season started promisingly, with two convincing wins that briefly ignited hope in the nation’s capital. Brissett, signed after Carson Wentz’s unceremonious departure, looked steady and efficient, leading a balanced offense that showcased the talent of players like Terry McLaurin and Antonio Gibson.



However, the honeymoon phase was short-lived. Injuries, particularly along the offensive line, hampered the Commanders’ momentum. Brissett, while exceeding expectations, lacked the elite playmaking ability needed to carry the team through close games.



<h2>Commanders’ new backup quarterback</h2>



In a recent report the Commanders said on X that they signed QB Jake Fromm from practice squad. He has little experience in the NFL, his career started in 2020 with the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/buffalo-bills">Buffalo Bills</a>, he was also with the Giants in 2021 and finally arrived in Washington in 2022.

Fromm comes from Georgia Bulls where he had good numbers between 2017 and 2019 but could never become that big quarterback that everyone expected. So far his pro record is 1-3 TD/INT with 210 passing yards.



The 2023 season for the Washington Commanders was a tale of two halves: early promise followed by crushing disappointment. They need to plan new things for next year, wait for the players who are injured to recover and find a way to make the offensive line better next season.



The Washington Commanders play in Week 17 against the San Francisco 49ers at home, and close the season in Week 18 against the Dallas Cowboys at home again.

According to multiple reports, the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-england-patriots" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">New England Patriots</a> are ready to cut ties with <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/bill-belichick" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bill Belichick</a> after more than two decades in charge of the team. Apparently, Robert Kraft made up his mind after the team’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany.



The season has been a disaster in Foxboro. People are blaming Belichick for ‘breaking’<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/mac-jones" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Mac Jones,</a> and the team’s unimpressive roster, lack of player development, and questionable scouting decisions also point at him.



Then again, as much as Belichick is to blame for the state of the team, no one can take anything away from him and everything he’s accomplished in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">National Football League.</a>



That’s why it’s just a matter of time before a team reaches out to the Patriots to inquire about his availability, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him draw plenty of interest as a free agent if the Patriots were to fire him. But which teams make the most sense? Let’s break it down.

<h2>3. Washington Commanders</h2>



The Washington Commanders have a new owner. They also have a lot of cap space and draft capital to revamp their team and start competing with other NFC powerhouses once and for all. They could look to make a big splash in the offseason, and that could include a new coach.



Ron Rivera has failed to establish his defensive expertise in Maryland. And while Eric Bieniemy should be the next in line, perhaps he would be willing to cooperate and work under another future Hall of Famer at coach.



The only issue with this is that new owner Josh Harris wants to have a ‘hands-on’ approach to his team’s decision-making. Belichick is a lone wolf who doesn’t like to ask for permission or consult his decisions with anybody, and he might not be given that much power here.

Likewise, the New Orleans Saints might not want to give Bill Belichick GM and HC responsibilities. Then again, they found their most success with a guy who used a similar approach: Sean Payton.

Like Payton, Belichick always builds his team defense-first and is a hard-nosed, old-school, tough-love kind of guy. That didn’t grant him a lot of success in the final stage of his career, but the Saints could be tempted to give him a shot to try and revive their mystique.



The Saints play in the weakest division in football, and Belichick is also familiar with that situation after dominating the ever-struggling AFC East for two decades before it became good. 



<h2>1. Los Angeles Chargers</h2>



The Los Angeles Chargers have been deemed a potential destination for Belichick for quite a while now. And now that they’ve fired both GM Tom Telesco and HC Brandon Staley, it only makes more sense.



The Chargers have elite players on both sides of the field, but they’ve failed to get over the hump for quite a while now. Perhaps all they need is one of the greatest coaches in NFL history.

The thing that makes this all the more appealing for Belichick is the fact that he could likely be in control of every decision, both minor and major, without being questioned. The only thing he loves more than winning is undeniable full authority, and if you add an elite young QB to the mix, he won’t be able to say no.

Of course, this move comes amid a plethora of rumors suggesting that Ron Rivera is on the hot seat and that his replacement could be Bill Belichick in the event he does not continue as the head coach of the New England Patriots.







These were the words of Rivera after losing on Thanksgiving Day against the Cowboys when asked about his job security. “I’ve told you before I’m not worried about anything. All I’m going to do is do my job and see how things go. That’s the only thing I can do.”

In fact, Sam Howell already hinted at the possibility of coaching changes before Jack Del Rio’s announcement. “It really doesn’t impact anything in the locker room. We just focus on what we can control, try to get better. Obviously, when things aren’t going well people are going to talk about jobs for everybody. Not only coaches, players, too. We just have to zone it all out.”



<h2>Will Ron Rivera remain as head coach of the Washington Commanders?</h2>



It doesn’t look good for Ron Rivera. Josh Harris just bought the team from Dan Snyder and, though he gave the head coach a full first season, it’s probable that the owner would like to go with his own people in 2024. 



Considering this scenario, Belichick’s name has surfaced in the last weeks as he is having a terrible season with the Patriots. If Robert Kraft fires him or makes him available via trade, the Commanders will be ready.
