The Indiana Fever had a frustrating night on Tuesday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, falling 81–80 to the Dallas Wings with less than two seconds remaining. Caitlin Clark, sidelined for the game, embodied that frustration, engaging in a heated exchange with the referee.
Known for her competitive spirit, Clark stepped onto the court toward official Amy Bonner, with images showing a tense moment in which the referee appeared to point toward the bench.
Aliyah Boston picked up three fouls in the game, including a disputed call involving Wings center Li Yueru, who clamped the Fever star’s arm, causing it to become entangled with her own as Boston attempted a shot.
Meanwhile, head coach Stephanie White voiced her displeasure with the officiating when speaking to reporters afterward. “If it’s going to be physical, and you’re going to allow us to be physical, then allow both teams to be physical. If you’re going to call the holds, and you’re going to call the chucks, then call it both ways,” White said (via Indy Star).

“So, I mean, I think that we’ve been pretty consistent in what we’re asking for, and I didn’t feel like it was consistent,” she added. White has also been seen having tense exchanges with officials this season.

The Fever’s injury woes continue
With the defeat, the Fever dropped to 18–15 and sit sixth in the WNBA standings. With Clark still out and both Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald sidelined for the rest of the season due to long-term injuries, White’s team was left without its point guards.
As Clark has no set timetable for her return, the Fever signed veteran guard Odyssey Sims to a hardship contract. Sims, 33, is a former WNBA All-Star (2019) and All-WNBA Second Team selection with the Minnesota Lynx.
